What I offer

I have 13 years experience within NHS, charity and private settings as a therapist, assessment clinician and supervisor. I am registered with the HCPC and all major health insurers and am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, certified by the British Psychological Society. I adhere to best practise standards clinically and ethically, including CRB/DBS enhanced certification (ie criminal record bureau clearance), continuing professional development and ongoing training.

My way of working is collaborative, offering clients evidence-based techniques and the space to understand patterns of thought and behaviour. I will include clear advice where this is appropriate, suggesting how change can be achieved.

I went into therapy without really knowing what to expect or how I would feel about it. I found Paul to be extremely easy to talk with and he immediately put me at ease. Our sessions were comforting and cathartic and they became a key part of my week and a time that I especially looked forward to. That was very much down to Paul's relaxing and calm manner. We have now finished our sessions and I reflect on them very positively and feel far better for having completed them. I would not hesitate to recommend Paul to anyone else in a similar situation.

I couldn’t find the right therapist for myself for a long time, it just didn’t click. I find it hard to choose a therapist from just a description. When I had the first session with Paul, I knew it was finally going to work and it did. Paul is a master of validation, I enjoyed every single session, even the very sad ones. My level of anxiety has dropped dramatically, which was my main concern. We also went through my traumas, which I never knew were there. And the most importantly, now I know that if anything, I know there is Paul who can help me. I’m grateful that we met

I started seeing Paul for personal therapy as part of my doctorate training. Paul gave me a good sense of receiving personal therapy, he made me feel comfortable to discuss raw thoughts and dilemmas, and remained genuine throughout our sessions. He asked considerate and well thought questions at my pace and offered well meaning feedback. I would consider seeing Paul again for personal therapy.

Paul has greatly helped me in dealing with the fallout of a very difficult divorce and ongoing emotional abuse from a narcissistic ex-husband. I have been able to weather the post-divorce interaction (which is necessary as we have children together) better than I had hoped and the future is brighter for the work Paul has done with me.

Paul has had an extremely positive impact on my life. Paul listens without judgement, has a very calm demeanour and is very easy to talk to. Paul takes time to understand where I am at, and has helped me develop and open up and talk through problems. From having therapy with Paul and continuing to do so, I have a toolkit which I can use in a number of scenarios. Paul is professional yet compassionate and understanding. I would definitely recommend Paul to anybody.

I came to Paul after a significant physical trauma incident..I didn't know what to expect but Paul was very quick to gain my trust with his calm manner and listening skills - it was very easy to open up. He took me on a journey and with patience we both began to see positive changes. His approach has also allowed me to integrate the techniques into all areas of my day to day life and even help my friends when they come to me for advice. I'm really proud of the progress made and I genuinely believe Paul cares for my wellbeing. Paul is very organised and led me through each stage of rehabilitation tailoring to my needs. I would thoroughly recommend Paul's expertise..

Getting therapy right
